Indivisible Chicago Statement on Trump’s Militarization of Chicago

From Indivisible Chicago Alliance

We will work together across communities, issues, and organizations to build one movement of resistance in Chicago.  Indivisible Chicago leaders are in communication and engaged in planning with many of the leaders of those communities and organizations.

We will support each other and especially those communities that are being most targeted by this administration.  We will continue to follow the leadership of those most impacted.  We understand that allyship is a verb – and we are prepared to act through rapid response and mutual aid in ways that are consistent with what those communities want.

We refuse to be silent.  Protest and non-compliance take many forms - from mass mobilizations, to neighborhood actions and creative visibility efforts.  We believe all of these kinds of actions are important.  Anger, art - even humor – all have their place.  We are doing these things now -- and we will do more of them as events unfold, strategically and in coordination with others.

We will hold our elected officials accountable and uplift those who are actively engaged in the fight alongside us. We are fortunate to live in Illinois and in Chicago, where diversity, rights, and compassion are valued and respected.

Above all else, we will take action together to resist authoritarianism, protect our communities, and defend democracy.

Watch for our emails and Daily Actions.  We need to be ready to respond rapidly.

Indivisible Lincoln Square stands with Indivisible Chicago.  Watch this website for updates and actions we can take.

We are in this together, and we are glad you are with us.
