Earth Day ILS Meet-and-Greet
Join us on Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22, for another ILS meet-and-greet. Plan to arrive around 7 pm, grab a name tag, and, if you’d like, enjoy a drink or some food at the bar. Around 7:15 we’ll kick things off with a brief program.
In the spirit of Earth Day, a time to reflect on our shared responsibility for the planet and the power of collective action, we’ll be focusing on an important environmental issue. Illinois currently subsidizes fossil fuels through its public pensions. Is that sustainable or safe? Babette Neuberger, a member of the Climate Safe Pensions Illinois coalition’s Coordinating Council, will speak about the history, purpose, and goals of the Fossil Fuel Divestment Act, now pending in the Illinois General Assembly, as well as the challenges it faces. Come learn how we can work together to support a more sustainable future.
After the program, we’ll have another hour to connect, share ideas, and build community.
New members are very welcome — bring your friends!
