Tell Amazon to Ditch Plastic Packaging
When you order something on Amazon, you shouldn't have to order handfuls of single-use plastic along with it.
Amazon makes millions of deliveries every single day. And all too often, those items are delivered in plastic bags and envelopes, which immediately go straight into the trash.
From your trash can, there's no telling where those flimsy sheets of plastic will go -- or how long they'll linger in our environment, polluting our planet for years after they've served their purpose.
Take action: Before Amazon's shareholder meeting on May 21, send your message saying it's time to ditch plastic packaging.
What’s Next? June 14
On Saturday, June 14—Flag Day—Donald Trump wants tanks in the street and a made-for-TV display of dominance for his birthday. A spectacle meant to look like strength. But real power isn’t staged in Washington.
As Trump throws himself a $100-million military parade in Washington, DC., we’re going to be rising up with protests all across the country.

Urge Congress to Save Public Media
Public media is a trusted source of local news, emergency alerts, and educational programming — and it only costs taxpayers about $1.60 per person each year. But now it’s under attack. The White House has proposed eliminating federal funding for public media, issued an Executive Order to block support for PBS and NPR, and is trying to claw back funding that Congress already approved.
Defunding or restricting funds for public media wouldn’t just disrupt these services — it could force stations to shut down entirely, especially in rural and underserved areas, leaving millions of Americans without access to these essential resources.

Vote No on Crypto Bill S.394
We need every Senate Democrat to vote no on a crypto bill that would enable Trump to keep accepting bribes from billionaires, corporations, and foreign governments. We can block S.394 if Democrats unite in opposition, but they’re not there yet, so make sure your senators hear from you ASAP.

Boost Voter Turnout in Our Neighborhood
Join Indivisible Lincoln Square as we knock doors as part of the 40th Ward Civics Research Project.
For local Chicago elected officials, the decisive election is the Primary Election, not the General Election. But, Primary Elections often see lower voter participation compared to General Elections. This research project aims to uncover why this happens and how we can mobilize our community members to make their voices count in every election cycle.
The first canvass is Saturday, May 4, 2025 and more cavasses will be scheduled.

Let’s Not Memory Hole Signalgate 1 and Now Signalgate 2
With new scandals erupting every day, it’s hard to remember all of the old scandals. But, it’s been a month since Signalgate 1 and Pete Hegseth still has not faced any repercussions for sharing classified information on a commercial (not secured) text messaging app.
In Signalgate 2, the New York Times reports that he also shared the classified information with a second group of 13 people on the same day that included his wife, two brothers and other members of his personal and professional circles.
Contact your representatives and urge them to keep advocating for Pete Hegseth’s resignation.

The Kilmar Abrego Garcia Story Continues
Yes, Senator Van Hollen was able to meet in person with Mr. Garcia, but the story hasn’t ended yet.
Four US Congressional Representatives are currently (as of April 21) in El Salvador seeking the release of Mr Abrego Garcia and to learn the status others who were sent without due process to the notorious CECOT facility.
Please continue to write/or call your representatives on Mr. Garcia behalf as well as on behalf of hundreds of the other persons illegally imprisoned in El Salvador.

Demand the Return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia
We are facing a constitutional crisis. On April 10th, the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously ordered the Trump administration to facilitate the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia—a Salvadoran man who was in the U.S. legally but was secretly and illegally deported to El Salvador over what officials now admit was an “administrative error.”
Instead of complying with the court’s ruling, the administration has defied it. White House officials are claiming it’s “up to El Salvador” whether he returns—ignoring the Supreme Court’s direct order.
Kilmar is now imprisoned in a notorious Salvadoran prison. The refusal to follow this ruling signals something terrifying: if the federal government can forcibly remove someone from the U.S., even after a Supreme Court ruling, no one is safe. This is about more than one case—it’s about the collapse of due process and constitutional checks on power. If left unchecked, it means the federal government could disappear anyone—citizen or not—without recourse.
We need members of Congress to speak out, loudly and clearly. This is not a partisan issue—it’s a matter of law, human rights, and democracy.

30,000 Of Us Flooded Daley Plaza for Hands Off Rally
The Hands Off message was both broad and simple: we told the Trump administration to keep their hands off the people, programs, places, planet, rights, and freedoms that we hold dear, and we call on our elected leaders and everyday people to act.
Use Your Voice and Your Vote
Use Your Voice and Your Vote
Over 100 people packed the town hall with US Congressman Mike Quigley Thursday night. Just as he is using his voice and his vote to oppose the Trump regime, he urged the audience to do the same.
Our actions are having an effect both on encouraging our elected officials to resist; and, on bolstering the efforts of people who are already resisting.

Take Action to Protect the Department of Education
Last week Donald Trump signed an executive order aimed at eliminating the Department of Education, though he lacks the authority to unilaterally abolish a federal department established by Congress. This order instructs Secretary of Education Linda McMahon to facilitate the department's closure, setting the stage for further action while avoiding immediate legal challenges.
