State launches portal to report ‘Midway Blitz’ ICE abuses
The Illinois Accountability Commission has launched a new submission portal for individuals who witnessed misconduct by federal agents during the federal government’s “Operation Midway Blitz” from September 2025 through year end.
The IAC is an independent body established by the state to review federal law enforcement operations in Illinois. It will conduct public hearings and issue an interim report on its findings by Jan. 31, 2026.

Civic engagement film “Join or Die” to screen at Sultzer
The words “join or die” were made famous by a Colonial-era political cartoon calling for the American colonies to coalesce in the face of oppression. Fittingly, they are also the title of a 2023 documentary about the importance of community connections based on the work of political scientist Robert Putnam.

Say NO to Trump's Illegal War with Venezuela!
Join Indivisible in making calls to the Senate to reject Trump’s escalations in Venezuela.
On the night of January 2, Trump launched an attack that resulted in the capture of Venezuelan President Maduro. Now Trump has declared that the U.S. will “run” Venezuela and control oil production until a transition of power can take place. He is disregarding national sovereignty and forcing regime change, all without authorization from Congress and without citing evidence of a legitimate threat to the United States.
We need fast, meaningful outreach to Congress to prevent Trump’s continued power grab, escalating violence in the region, and putting US service members and civilians in danger unnecessarily. Congress must check this regime’s lawless violence, or there’s no telling where this will end. The Constitution states clearly that war powers belong to Congress—not the White House. Congress can immediately pass a War Powers Resolution that would mandate a halt to Trump’s military operations–and it’s important they act fast.

ICE out for good
From national Indivisible
Renee Nicole Good’s tragic death this week was not an isolated incident; over the past year federal agents have shot numerous people -- two in Portland just yesterday. Thirty-two have died in ICE custody. Many, many more have had their lives shattered by detention, family separation, and deportation.
We need more defiance at the state and local level. We need to target ICE’s funding at the federal level. And right now, we need to be in the streets shining a light on ICE’s pattern of unchecked violence, raising our voices to demand: ICE OUT FOR GOOD.
That’s why Indivisible and a broad coalition of partners are banding together for the nationwide ICE Out For Good Weekend of Action this Saturday and Sunday. We hope you’ll join us.

Digital Security Recommendations
The Working Group on “Digital Security” recommends that people begin to take sensible precautions with their digital use. This includes computers, tablets and cell phones. Specifically, we suggest you review the “Security Essentials” found on the website “Digital Security Checklists for Activists.” This website has a series of checklists for activists. These checklists are quite thorough and can be a bit daunting. However, in our current environment, it is important to begin implementing many of these suggestions.
Quoted from Security Essentials: “Every click, message, and location ping creates a digital trail that can be used against activists and organizers. Law enforcement regularly demands data from tech companies to identify and surveil people working for social change."
This guide helps you minimize your digital trail. These steps won't make you invisible, but they'll make it substantially harder for authorities to:
